It is undisputed that the procurement function has evolved throughout the past decades from a clerical, order-taking role to a strategic role. Procurement leaders need to be aware of the leadership challenges we face today and in the future. This means changing their approach to leadership, employing new technology, and reviewing methods of communication. Leaders are finding themselves in a constant cycle of change, having to cope with the new demands and challenges of employees, suppliers, and customers.

Moreover, we have seen that the pandemic has escalated talent issues to the top of leaders’ agendas. Terms like the “Great Resignation” have been used to describe the challenges in attracting and retaining talent. Talent is core to human capability and better talent improves business outcomes.

In this session, Valentina Ericson, VP Procurement & Head of Packaging at Signify will present her view on how leadership challenges, and what is means to come from a younger generation and working as a Procurement leader. In addition to that Valentina will share best practices on attracting and retaining talents within Signify and how her leadership style reflects that.
